On Saturday night, 26^th of May 2012, there was a special event in Omah Mode Kudus. The name of event is Good Art is Born from Good Thinking. The event was hold by Silabu, Sisi Lain Budaya. Silabu is an organization which the members are people who love tattoo, piercing, and body art painting. In that moment, Silabu did launching and inauguration of it. Besides, they also had the other events, there were extreme tattoo and body art painting.

The visitors could see the process of tattoo making at that night. There were a man who made tattoo on his back and arm; and a girl who made some tattoos on her part of body in the same time, exactly in her thigh, stomach, and arm. Some visitors were interested in it, but some of them were also afraid looking at it. Because some people claim that they who have tattoo in their body are criminal and scary.

At that night, our group (SunShine) could meet one of the members of Silabu. And we had a talk and asked a little about Silabu and his reason of loving tattoo. Here is our interview with Alief Ocsha Dhewa, the member of Silabu from Kudus. We translate it into English.

SunShine   : What kind of event is it?

Alief          : This is launching and inauguration of Silabu, with the theme, Good Art is Born From

                       Good Thinking. In Indonesia, it has meaning Kesenian yang bagus lahir dari pemikiran

                       yang bagus pula.

SunShine   : When is silabu formed?

Alief          : It is formed at April 2012.

sunShine    : what program that will be done in this event?

Alief          : this is a Launching of Silabu that followed by some activity such as Tattoo Printing

                       and Body Art Printing.

SunShine   : what is Silabu itself?

Alief          : Silabu is an Organization that contains of people who love tattoo, piercing, and body

                       art painting.

Sun Shine  : what is the goal of this event?

Alief          : the goal is developing the art that has not received by environment.

SunShine   : what is the reaction of people knowing this event, or this organization’s action?

Alief          : of course, there are pro and contra.

sunShine   : so, what is your effort to make the people sure that your action is not negative?

Alief          : we ensure, that tattoo or people who have a tattoo are not criminal. That is art, and

                      we can do art without bring a crime.

SunShine   : what is your reason in loving tattoo?

Alief          : loving is relative, we can say that we don’t have any canvass anymore, and we use

                       our body. :)

SunShine   : why do you choose tattoo, because there are many kinds of art,

Alief          : through tattoo, we can express our self, it is my hobby, I like it, and I will feel satisfied

                       for do it.

     

Conclusion

¨       People who have tattoo are not criminal.

¨       To change people’s mindset is not easy.

¨       Do not judge the book by it’s cover.

¨       Tattoo, piercing, and body painting are some ways of people to express theirselves.
