Thank you miss Annisa
Ladies and gentlemen, that was the presentation from miss Annisa with the title is “passive voice”. Now let’s continue to the session questions and answers. Before you ask question or give comments, please raise your hand, and mention your name. For this session I ‘d like to give it to two people.
Yes, please the lady on the right
Septi: I’m Septianti, I’m from Bali. I want to ask, how to make passive voice by using WH-question?
Ok, the next questioner. Yes, please the lady in the corner.
Esti: My name’s Esti. I’m from Semarang. In your present continuous example there is an example ‘Football is being played by them’ and my question is why in the sentence use to be ‘is’? Whereas in active using to be ‘are’?”

Now miss Annisa will answer the questions from the audiences, to miss Annisa the time is yours.

Thanks for the questions. Those are very good questions.
I will answer the first question from Miss Septianti, from Bali. She asks about how to make passive voice by using WH-questions?
Ok, I’ll show you the examples here:

Present Tense
A: Whom does she meet today?
P: Who is met by her today?
Present Continuous
A: How many boys are helping you?
P: By how many boys are you being helped?

We have to change ‘does’ into to be ‘is’ plus verb 3. Meet become met. And for present continuous, we have to change verb ing into to be ‘are’+S+being+V3. Here, help become helped in verb 3.
And the second question is come from Miss Esti, from Semarang. She asks about to be in the example of Present continuous, Ok I’ll show you the differences.
A: They are playing football
P: Football is being played by them
Here, the first sentence uses to be ‘are’ because ‘they’ is plural, so it’s using to be ‘are’. And in the second sentence, using to be ‘is’ because it’s following ‘football’ that a kind of sport, and singular. So it uses to be ‘is’.
I give back to the moderator

Does that answer your question?
Questioners: Yes.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have already finished with the session of question and answers. Now let’s listen the summary from the secretary. The secretary please.

Ok, thank you for moderator, and now I’d like to read the summary of the presentation as follow the presenter says,
Passive voice almost use in every language, but passive voice have different language from one language with another. When we compared between English and Indonesian language so we will seen many similarity in passive voice.
And in answering question of passive voice we should be focus on “Time Signal” because if we know the time signal we can decide the verb that we used.
And now I’d like to read the summary of the question and answer session,
The first question from Miss Septianti, she is come from Bali and the question is “how to make passive voice by using WH-question?”
And the answer is “in present active example: whom does she meet today? And we change into passive: who is met by her today? And in present continuous, in active: how many boys are helping you? And we change into passive: by how many boys are you being helped?”
And the second question from Miss Esti, she is come from Semarang and the question is “in your present continuous example there is an example ‘Football is being played by them’ and my question is why in the sentence use to be ‘is’? Whereas in active using to be ‘are’?”
And the answer is, “because in the active sentence use subject they, they use to be are and football use to be is”
Ok, it’s the summary of my presentation and now back to the moderator.

Thank you secretary. Ladies and Gentlemen, before we close let’s give a big applause to miss Annisa Puspa Dhara, thank you. See you later,
Wassalamu’alaikum Wr.Wb
